Led by their charismatic front man, Col. JD Wilkes, the band continues to wow crowds with their explosive interpretations of swamp blues, rock n' roll and hillbilly music, making fans, critics, and now, an entire new generation into true believers. Between intermittent hiatuses to work on other projects including JD's sideshow banner-style artwork for acts like The Squirrel Nut Zippers and Marty Stuart Such a wealth of devoted, cult-like fans has only added to the mystique that the Legendary Shack Shakers possess, carrying them down the road toward new creative pursuits and intense new music and ideas. Wallace Stenger may have captured the spirit of the west in his novel Angle of Repose. Jim Thompson surely exposed the lurid underbelly of the Western experience. Cormac McCarthy definitely evoked the conflicted, tortured spirit of small town life on the frontier. It is that literary tradition that imbues the harrowing and celebratory sound and riveting stories of Slim Cessnas Auto Club. Throughout its long and illustrious history, it is largely in that realm of art that the Auto Club reveled and garnered a loyal cult following well beyond the boundaries of The Queen City of the Plains. The album encompassed both the heady darkness and celebratory intensity with which the group made its name.

Those who have grown up with privilege need to add their voice and position in society to finally rectify perpetual injustice. I have read and written since I was a little boy. It is not always a love, though it is what I have chosen to do.

The band is considered to be one of the cornerstones of the "Denver Sound" - music which includes elements of country blues , gospel and folk. The 'Auto Club' is sometimes labeled as Americana and as Southern Gothic as well, due to the juxtaposition of apocalyptic and religious imagery with stories concerning alcohol abuse, violence, and relationships gone awry. The name "Slim Cessna's Auto Club" originally came about as a tribute to Cessna's friend who had a car collection:. His name was John, and he had all of these cars. And they weren't cool cars; they were old, junky cars, but he had about fifteen of them. So we started calling ourselves San Juan's Car Club, as a tribute to him. Over time, it mutated a few times, and it ended up as the Auto Club. I'm not sure why.
Plus there's a lot of things we didn't get taught growing up that are slowly coming out through the Internet. It's really cool to be able to connect with someone who shares all of those things with me. Some of the guests talked about the importance of helping hard core mormons to be open and accepting to ALL their brothers and sisters in the church, regardless of sexual orientation. I have known many women who have married non-members and are happy. After our child was born, I can say that my resentment of my husband started to grow and overshadow the respect I have for what he does. My father told him it's never too late to leave whether we are married with kids or just engaged. If your date has been an active member of the Church who is following these moral guidelines, then she will not be willing to involve herself in a sexual relationship with you. Doctors want to be with their families and attend events but because of work they just can't. I had been teetering on the fringes for quite a long time, mostly coming to Church but not really being present, because I felt like an outcast as an older single.
